How to choose a local roof repair company

If you’re having issues with your roof, choose a roofing contractor who comes to your home to assess the scope of the damage to your roof. You should never feel pressured into doing a full roof replacement if all you need is a repair; a great roofing company will take the time to help educate you on your options in an honest way.

Why you should hire a roofing company

Sometimes people try to save money by doing DIY roof repair. We recommend expert roof repair to ensure the job is done right. Our repairmen will:

  • Prolong the life of your roofing system
  • Ensure that every area that needs repair is handled
  • Provide reassurance that the job is done right the first time

Roof Repair vs. Replacement

We understand that a new roof is an investment so it makes sense that a homeowner would prefer to repair their roof rather than replace it. When there is an isolated leak in a small section of your roof and there are still more viable years left in the material, a roof repair may be the right option. On the other hand, when the roof is past its prime and there is more than one issue presenting, roof replacement is more likely to be the best choice. Our experienced roofing team can help you decide which option makes sense for you. Contact us today to schedule a free consultation.

Types of roof repairs

There are five main types of roof repairs:

  1. Shingle/tile replacement

Shingle and tile roofs can become damaged from extreme weather, sun exposure, or pests. When damaged, shingle and tile roofing can start to lift, curl, break, or shrink, which can allow moisture to seep in. Shingles and tiles can be replaced to repair and prevent further damage.

  1. Leak repair

If your roof is leaking, it has deteriorated to the point that immediate action is needed to prevent water damage to your home and foundation. A roofer can check your roof to identify the source of the leak and carry out a roof leak repair or replacement, as needed.

  1. Fascia replacement

The fascia is a long wooden board installed behind the gutters that protects the lower edges of a roof; it acts as the first layer of protection against the elements. When fascia boards are damaged from water, mold growth, holes, cracks, or animal infestation they can be replaced in parts or as a whole.

  1. Flashing repair

Flashing is used around chimneys, skylights, pipes, and vents and other surfaces to protect the area where the components extend through the roof and direct water away from them. When problems come up with roof flashing, it is usually a result of aging materials or improper installation. Over time, flashing around venting and skylights wears out or becomes detached. When the flashing wasn’t properly mounted onto the roof, water can flow underneath it and cause your roof to rot. A professional roofer can assess the damage and repair or reinstall your flashing, as needed.

  1. Draining standing water

Flat roofs can collect water into pools when they have sun damage or poorly-installed drainage systems. The longer standing water is allowed to sit, the higher the risk of roof leaks that can cause further structural damage. Roofing contractors can drain standing water and identify the cause of the collected water to find a long-term solution for your roof.
